iron and rust in water
Iron & Mineral Stains

Iron causes red/orange stains and can be seriously hard to clean up. There are two different types of iron, both treated by different methods, so a free home water test can help you determine the best plan of action.

Bad tasting chlorine water
Bad Tasting and/or Contaminated Water

Most water contamination happens AFTER the water leaves your local water treatment plant. Between the miles of pipes, and the use of chlorine, it’s not unusual for water to be contaminated & taste pretty gross.

Quinte West, Prince Edward County, Kingston, and Belleville Reviews

Helpful and friendly staff. After years of dealing with... Eco I just purchased a water softener from them and had it installed. Jim came to my house and explained everything in detail and left me with no questions. The install was fast and the installers were really kind and respectful of my property. They answered all my questions.Anyone going to anyone else for anything related to water would be like going to a Boat Captain looking for a lesson in flying! Don’t be that person! Ask Eco!read more

I reached out about a very specific problem and had a call... and visit same day - no cost!!Cathy was so lovely and helpful on the phone and Jim was a wealth of knowledge upon arrival. He made recommendations for a ‘sit’ solution and let me know to reach out again if it didn’t result in a fix. This is who I should have called 2 years ago. Jim gave me more information on my current set up then the team that has installed it.If you have water needs, call them you won’t regret it!read more

Jim, especially, thank you for taking the time and making... the effort to help me understand my systems and identify the trouble spots.Your explanation of the system functions and design clarified it for me. After our call, I was able to identify and fix the trouble as soon as I got home.I went to Home Hardware and bought their last available Pump Controller, took it home, checked the water level with a landscaping tape measure and replaced the unit just as you described by just unplugging and replacing the capacitor module. Worked immediately. All I can say is thanks. You saved me money and helped me get back to operational status while learning a great deal about our systems.read more

Customer Service at its best...Jim at Ecowater was above... that, I do have some water system problems at my house and Jim came to take a look but also found a core problem with my Well that needs to be addressed before hand. Jim, instead of selling me stuff to "make it work" told me to look after that first then to call him back...now that is someone caring for the customer...will be calling him for sure...thank you Jimread more

A fantastic water system and the customer service is the... best. My old water system was such a source of stress for me. Jim from Eco Water came right away to talk about getting a new water system when I called. He spent lots of time with me helping me understand (I'm new to the country). And the guys that installed the system went above and beyond what I had asked them to do. My new system works so smoothly. It's quiet, the water tastes amazing, its cleaner water then I ever had (all the white scum is gone). Knowing that I can phone eco water with any problems, and they will answer right away to help problem solve, is such a relief. It also saves on un-needed service calls. Highly recommend.read more

The definition of great service! This past Saturday (Nov... 19) at about 3pm, our water system went down (due to human error when changing the bulb and cracking the crystal sleeve). We live in the country, so that meant we had NO water. At all. Whatsoever. We called the emergency number provided on the voicemail for after hour calls, and in the first real, significantly bad snow storm of the year, these guys made their way to our house, which took them 2.5 hours to get here, and fixed our water! If that isn't amazing service, I don't know what is!!! We are forever grateful to Jim at Ecowater for risking it to help us get water back to our house. We highly recommend these guys!!!!read more

What is water treatment?

Water treatment is any process that improves the quality of water for a specific purpose. Reasons for improving water quality may include drinking, cooking, bathing, or other household activities.

How does water treatment work?

Water treatment works by running water through chemicals and filters to remove toxins and hazards. This is done at both the municipal level and at a private level in homes and/or businesses. While a water treatment plant may make water potable again, healthy, clean, and quality water can only be truly achieved at the point of service (pos). This is because the water running to your home or business, from the municipal water supply, picks up contaminants from the pipes it runs through. In-home water treatment, or POS systems, run your water through an additional set of filters and media that remove contaminants that may have both been picked up from the city water pipes and those that may not have been removed, to begin with.

How many steps are in the water treatment process?

There are typically 9 steps in the municipal water treatment process: Collection, Screening and Straining, Chemical Addition, Coagulation and Flocculation, Sedimentation and Clarification, Filtration, Disinfection, Storage, and finally Distribution. Private water treatment systems for homes or businesses can have anywhere from 3 to 16 filtration stages that work to remove additional contaminants. Some of these stages include carbon, reverse osmosis, UV light, and remineralization.
